MARTINA MEOLA'S DEBUT
On June 22, Martha Argerich performed at the Elbphilharmonie as part of her own festival. At the end of the concert, completely unexpectedly, she invited Martina Meola onto the stage. The just 13-year-old pianist performed Chopin’s Ballade No. 1, Op. 23 and Waltz No. 1, Op. 34. The audience went from surprise to enthusiasm, culminating in a standing ovation for the exceptionally young Italian artist (watch the video).
